All Songs Considered, an offshoot of NPR's All Things Considered, has an excellent archive. It's a great way to discover new music. Similarly, you can now go to the All Things Considered website and listen to individual segments from each show. It is amazing.
Last year National Public Radio in the United States broadcast a terrific series on the 100 most significant American recordings of the 20th century. Each segment explained the story behind the song, provided musical analysis of the song by musicians involved in the recording, and offered some, often unusual, biographical information about the artist. The NPR 100 is now archived online. Each piece is between 10 and 15 minutes long and they are all well worth a listen. Our favorite is the segment on Good Vibrarations by The Beach Boys.
